Some apps, websites, and software tools are just easier to use than others. While it may seem hard to specify exactly “why” certain technologies are easier to use than others, there’s actually a word for this feeling: user experience. User experience is the main reason why major retail websites like Amazon and Target redesign and update the look and feel of their websites on a regular basis. As a general rule of thumb, websites that are optimized for user experience (UX) have the following characteristics:
They’re easy for users to navigate and understand.
They provide direct, actionable information that is relevant to the user’s search.
They’re professionally designed and accessible across various browsers and devices.
They contain high quality, accurate, and consistent content.
User experience (UX) is the overall experience of a person using a product such as a website or computer application, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use.
UX is consistently used as one of the top four indicators looked at by search engine algorithms to keep search results relevant and helpful for users (the other three are content, performance, and authority!). UX ties into almost every aspect of your website’s SEO ranking. UX has a huge impact on SEO because it affects everything else on your website. Having a responsive website (a mobile-friendly website that adapts based on screen size, platform and orientation) is one of the biggest ways you can improve your storage website’s UX and boost SEO at the same time. In short: having a well-designed website with great UX makes it easier for tenants to find you, rent from you, and pay their bills online.
